The Monarch Foundation has collaborated with the YMCA of McHenry County and Camp Algonquin to initiate a grief and loss camp exclusively for children ages 6 through 12 who have experienced the loss of a loved one, usually a parent, sibling, grandparent or other close relative. Camp Monarch is a place where children can interact with other children who have suffered a similar loss, and receive a combination of professional counseling and fun activities that serve to enhance their understanding of grief and enable them to better cope with their feelings of loss.
The first session of the camp will take place from August 11 through August 13, 2009 at Camp Algonquin from 9am to 3:30pm each day. Registration information can be requested by calling 815-759-5630 or by sending an email to jimb@themonarchfoundation.org. Attendance is free, with all costs being absorbed by The Monarch Foundation and their founding sponsors
